Grech – Timberline Repair + A Quick Stop in Anacortes

June 8, 2026
Our Timberline dual heating system was no longer working using shore power (electric when we plug in). The diesel option still worked great. Timberline is located in Washougal, Washington, but we were well past it once we realized the electrical part wasn’t working. Luckily, Momentum Vans in Arlington were able to get us in first thing this morning! Their waiting room had free wi-fi and a table to work at, or play cribbage! (Thought of you, Eric Ogren when I saw this custom cribbage board.)

Momentum Vans was very efficient at diagnosing the problem AND fixing it ASAP! A connection had burnt out, and was not an expensive part to replace. The mechanic simply drove to the local hardware store and found the replacement! Gotta love that kind of service! Super nice people here. We were very glad we had this taken care of before we head into Canada for the next four months!

The receptionist was the kind all businesses should have! What a great first impression on the phone and in person! We were quickly on our way. She submitted the $430 bill to America’s RV Warranty. ๐Ÿ™‚ We highly recommend Momentum Vans! (Warranty paid all but $128 with $100 being our deductible.)

We were back on the road to visit and stay with dear friends, Tom & Renee in Anacortes. Sadie’s size allowed us to fit in their parking area for this visit! Started off with a much need martini for Barry.

Barry’s new buddy, Sparky!

Nice hike the next day. Views from the bluffs of Washington Park in Anacortes.

Virtually all of this land was once owned by Tonjes Havekost, a German immigrant who settled here in the 1870’s. He donated 8 acres for a barn around a 15-ton granite monument marking his grave. Havekost’s last wish was, “Make my tomb a park.”

Is that a lighthouse way over there?

I zoomed in. Cool! it is! So I tried zooming in even more, and even more…

Dinner in La Conner to celebrate Tom and Renee’s anniversary.

Sparky was ok cozying up with me. ๐Ÿ™‚

Saying goodbye…Tom even sang the Canadian National Anthem–with a slight change that I’m sure Canadians would love! (something like “Oh Canada, keep Trump away from thee!”

We always enjoy a relaxing visit with these two! Maybe our next time together will be at our winter place in Yuma! ๐Ÿ™‚
