A MOOSE on the Loose!

We left Marathon, Ontario this morning heading to Sault Ste Marie. Barry’s driving while I’m continuing to enjoy and get pictures of the various wildflowers along the highway, when all of a sudden I blurted out “MOOSE! MOOSE!” We were on a two lane highway. The moose was across the road from us.

Barry was able to quite quickly and easily/safely pull off the road. Luckily, we didn’t have traffic in our direction. Since Barry had a better view, I just handed him my phone since it was already on and ready.

From where I was sitting it looked like that white truck almost hit her, but seeing the video it wasn’t as close as I thought. Glad she finally was able to cross both lanes in front of us. 🙂

Some additional views during our drive today:

We came upon an accident today with an overturned SUV! Glad we weren’t there much earlier! No other vehicle seemed involved. People can be crazy on the road and think they are in control as they zoom in and out of traffic or pass on double-yellow lines, curves, etc. We try to remain focused and aware of moves others make around us.

We arrived safely at another boondocking spot from our Park4Night app. It was a large public parking lot where we were within sight and walking distance to a full restaurant, pizza oven options, wine, a pub and gelato! I walked over to check out the gelato. UNLIKE the experience in Jasper, The Gelato Mill was happy to give tastes of any flavor you wanted to try! I tried their lemon. OMG. It was fabulous! Not real sweet. A bit like a lemon-meringue, but again not overly sweet. Very smooth and creamy. I went back to get some to put in our freezer. (It worked! The freezer kept it just right!)

Tomorrow we go to North Bay, Ontario to a Boondocking spot on the water and to celebrate CANADA DAY!
