Traveling full-time in Sadie for a six-month period of time has a different mindset than “being on vacation”. “Vacation” tends to mean going non-stop and cramming as much as possible into every day before going home. Home is when you restock groceries, do all the laundry, and rest up from your vacation! LOL. Living in Sadie day in and day out means we have regular life things to do while on the road. Thankfully, Barry plans “chill days” within our 6-month itinerary. It also provides some flexibility. If we learn of something nearby or later in our trip that we need to see or do, or we need to make a quick adjustment due to weather or other issues that may arise. I’ve come to embrace our chill days seeing how they are helpful for us enjoying the entire trip from start to finish without burning out half-way through. We have two days now to sleep in and get “life things” done like getting groceries and doing laundry while leisurely checking out things within the town of Jasper.
Jasper has a beautiful artistic display in recognition of the indigenous people of the land now known as Jasper National Park. The free outdoor exhibit aims to celebrate and share the various indigenous histories, cultures, and connections to this land. I really enjoyed it.
I didn’t realize there were so many different nations of indigenous people within the Jasper National Park lands.

Stopped in for a little bite and a little World Cup

Today was a nice day (rain is coming for tomorrow). We stopped at Grandma’s Ice Cream. It was all homemade. We wanted to select two flavors in a cup to share. Tundra pie was one and was really good. The Lavender Lemon sounded refreshing. I wanted to taste it first. But they have signs “No Samples!” You PAY before you order, so they already have your money!! But they will not let you sample anything! I was told “Read the description and make an informed decision”. Wow. That was pretty curt. I gave the Lavender Lemon a shot. OMG. It was sickening sweet! I guess I did not make an “informed decision”! Neither of us could eat it. I dumped that scoop into the trash.
I only recommend Grandma’s if you buy “normal” flavors. Reviews fully support the rudeness I felt. (P.S. The Tundra Pie was really good.)
A rainy day is a perfect day to get laundry done! Coin Clean Laundry is a really nice facility right in this area of shops and places to eat! Coin Clean Laundry. We also used it last year when we were here. The picture below is from the internet and is only the dryers!
Once we were done with laundry, we decided to use our scooter from Sadie around town to facilitate quicker retreats from wind/rain. It worked out great!
Another day. Another Pub and some more World Cup Soccer. This time Whistle Stop Pub. They had the Strongbow cider, so that’s what I ordered. I do like that! The place was quite full for the World Cup Game. Being a colder, rainy day we ordered the soup of the day, but they were sold out. Evidently it was as good as it sounded! We went with the Whistle Stop burger to share. It was good.
We browsed a few stores. There was nothing we needed or couldn’t live without. 🙂 Well, maybe one thing. LOL. Before heading back to Sadie, we made a quick stop at Beaver Tails.
It was really nice to stroll (and scooter) the streets and shops without having a ton of people.
Great, easy parking in Jasper for bigger vehicles. Nice long pull thru- spots! You pay based on how many hours you want/need. You may not be as close to the shops or the restaurant you are going to, but downtown Jasper is NOT that big. A little walk is GOOD!
