“Take It Easy” on Route 66

Today, October 14, 2019, we left Albuquerque, NM. I enjoy seeing landscape changes as we drive. Some sites are beautiful…others are quite the opposite.

We stopped to “Take It Easy” for the day and night in Winslow, AZ! Of course we had to hang out “Standin’ on the Corner” for a while. 🙂

Stood on the corner…now definitely takin’ it easy. 🙂

Written by Jackson Browne and Glenn Frey, “Take it Easy” was originally recorded by the Eagles with Glenn Frey singing lead vocals. It was the band’s first single and was released on May 1, 1972.

“Such a fine site to see…” Some other local sites we saw on our way back to Vinny (our coach).

As we were walking back to the RV, Barry called my attention to this set of signs, by saying, “Hey, Look! wasn’t I your third Barry!?!” We laughed. So of course, I had to take a picture. (Yes, Barry is “misspelled”. LOL)

We stayed overnight at the Winslow Elks Lodge RV parking area. It was more of an OK dirt parking area without actual “sites”, but there was a single pole that had a variety of plugins available: two 30-amp, one 50-amp and one 20-amp. A small class C had just parked when we arrived. They used one of the 30 amps, and we took the single 50 amp. None of were sure how anyone else could come in and be able to plug into either of the two that were left. Luckily no else showed up. Vicky and Marty were a hoot! We so enjoyed the evening with them, and look forward to our paths crossing again sometime. Tomorrow we arrive in the Sun City (Phoenix) area. Hoping to see my brother, but not sure if he’ll be available during the week with his work. If not, I’ll just be happy to get a little pickleball in before heading to Yuma.
