Hiking “Mt. Pio”

Today, Isaac, Barry and I went for a hike here at Pio Pico Thousand Trails. Isaac was so excited! We said we’d take a lunch with us to eat up on the “mountain”. Isaac insisted on wearing his little Daniel Tiger backpack, and that he would carry the lunches. We kept it simple with PBJ for each of us and some veggie straws to share. It really was the perfect size for what we were taking. He looked so darn cute!

Barry got out three of our hiking sticks and adjusted one for Isaac. Isaac really felt like a hiker now! And we were off!

Isaac did so well! We paused every now and then, but it was usually to stop and enjoy the views and to recognize how far up we had come. About a year ago Isaac and Barry did this hike. It took a bit longer with more breaks along the way then, but Isaac was equally excited both times.

We went to the top of what we renamed “Mt. Pio”, and then came back to a better place where we could all sit and enjoy our lunch. Isaac thought we should just stay there till dinnertime! We agreed that we would sit and enjoy the views for a while, but we couldn’t stay till dinnertime since I would need to make dinner and we needed to take him home tonight after dinner.

It was time to descend Mt Pio. WOW! Isaac never gave up. He held Papa’s hand when it was steep, and followed Papa’s lead on taking side-steps slowly. So proud of you, Isaac!!
