9-14-19 Verde Valley TT

Site c-46; 50 amp

We left Araby Acres Encore Park in Yuma at 8:15 am. on Friday the 13th. I drove today. It took us 4 hours 45 minutes to get to Verde Valley TT (no stops). The last 7 miles had 7 roundabouts!! I think that has to be a record for us! The park is spread out and you can see where they are in the process of adding about 70 more 50 amp sites. They look to be very spacious and will have fantastic vistas. Unfortunately, none are available yet. Lots of packed down gravel, but they still have to get a lot of landscaping put in which will help lower the temperature. The ranger told us that those areas are currently about 10 degrees warmers due to lack of landscaping. Wow!

Evidently, you need to request 50 amp when you first make your reservation at Verde Valley or you are likely out of luck. Fortunately, I asked if they had one available for our 5 night stay. They did. There were two available for through the 18th. We paid $3 a night for the upgraded power. OMG…so glad we did! It is in the high 90’s!! Our site C-46 is level and has a wonderful tree for some nice shade. Timing is everything! “RV Adventures with Pets” pulled in about an hour after we did. They shortened their reservation days also to five so that they could take the only other available 50 amp site.

Barry and I tried out the pickleball courts just about sundown last night. They aren’t the best, but will do for us this week. Not sure there are any other players. Since no one was around after it cooled off, Barry and I played 3 singles games before hitting the pool and hot tub. The pool was very refreshing! Nice full moon!

Saturday we slept in and decided to just check out the park a little more. Barry thought Saturday may be a bit more crowded in the Sedona area. We both put on our brand new hiking boots and set out for a hike in the park before the temperature got to mid/high 90’s. Tomorrow we will leave early to drive to Jerome and checkout the area including Cottonwood “Old Town”

We have possibly thunderstorms predicted for this evening, Clouds are rolling in already. Temperature has gone from 97 to 93. We’ll see.
