11-10-18 Oct/Nov Time with Nana & Papa

We have thoroughly enjoyed having Isaac and Mona for various overnighters with us in the motorhome! Oct 2 we got to have Mona for 4 days while Erika and Justin went out of town. She was 8 months old. All went so well other than the one night when she just cried and cried about 11:30. I was pretty sure it was teeth trying to come through. 12:30 AM it was as if a switch flipped off as quickly as it started at 11:30. Mona looked up at me while in my arms, and gave me the biggest smile and started “talking”. We made it through. She now had two coming through her bottom gums. We headed back to the bedroom. I put her on her tummy with her pacifier and she slept the rest of the night!

Oct 18 – To help Erika and Justin get Mona used to sleeping in her crib in the same room where Isaac sleeps in his crib, we kept Isaac for 4 nights. Happy-Happy-Joy-Joy!!! We cherish this kind of time with each one of these grandbabies!! We started a little tradition with Isaac where we would read several books after he was ready for bed, then Papa takes him outside to say goodnight to the moon. Saying goodnight to the moon started by accident when we had him at the beach. Isaac’s favorite was One Gorilla, and we’d finish with Chugga Chugga Choo Choo that we recently ordered for him. I would read each of the books interactively with him. I loved it as much as he did. 🙂

Halloween: It was fun to go Trick or Treating with the kids! Isaac was a Ninja Turtle, and Mona was the prettiest witch!

November – We jump at giving Justin and Erika date nights so that we can babysit, but we are also available when Erika just needs to get things done or go out with colleagues while Justin is at work.

Nov 9 Erika was looking forward to the 5 days off that Justin was due to start when she got the news that he was heading to Ventura to help with the big wildfire by Thousand Oaks. Barry and I went over to take care of the kids so she could get things done and run errands. We then took Isaac for a couple nights so that Erika could have a bit of a break by only having Mona when she got off work. She was dealing with enough stress. We tried to work a bit on potty training, but Isaac just wasn’t ready. He did at least go poo poo in his potty. We’ll take that! Praying for Justin’s safety.

Nov 13 Justin is still at the Woolsey FIre. Today I picked up Mona for a couple nights with us. What a doll!!! She is SO good!! She goes down so easily for naps and bedtime!! Since Erika wasn’t feeling well, we got to keep Mona for a third night.

Nov 17 Justin was back so he and Erika had a date night—which translates to “WE get to babysit!!”
