Pickleball in Chula Vista!

A pickleball friend told me about a really nice park in the East Lake area of Chula Vista where there is good pickleball. Mackenzie Creek Park is amazing. It is a gorgeous Parks & Recreation park that is open to the public! There is a wonderful playground area, an extremely spacious basketball area, and nice bathroom facilities right there! The only negative is the extremely small parking lot. Thank goodness there is ample street parking, and a shopping area parking lot with easy access to the courts. The tennis/pickleball courts are nicely lit! It was SO NICE to play in cooler temps of the evening!! Currently you have to have a portable net to set up, but soon there will be at least 4 permanent dedicated pickleball courts. These are being funded by the group of pickleball players! (Whatever it takes to make it happen!)

One portable net. Soon there were four on this tennis court and three on the other tennis court!

Luckily, tonight we had 7 people who came with a net to set up. This really kept any wait time down to a minimum. There was rarely more than two rackets waiting at any given court. Winners got to stay on the court if only 2 or 3 paddles were down. I only had to wait a total of maybe 5 minutes the entire evening! I didn’t take more pictures because I was too busy playing. There were probably about 40 people at the courts! I will definitely play here when we come back to Chula Vista in December.
