Parked at a Casino & Dinner with a Kianu Sister

Today I started out driving as we left the Colorado River TT. It looked like it would be a nice day, but before I knew it we were in thick, dense fog for quite some time! I was shocked by the number of drivers (the majority) who had no lights on. I have to believe they had no idea how difficult it was to see them from any distance. If you don’t have fog lights–use parking lights. They could save your life! Uneven road surfaces began appearing with the numerous construction areas. Thank goodness the fog had finally lifted. We (I) drove 355 miles today to get to Baton Rouge, LA. Check out the mountain of a bridge below!

We are staying in the back of the self-parking parking lot of the L’Auberge Casino. (No fee) It is extremely well lit, and the casino is 100% smoke free!!! Loved that we were able to walk to ANY slot machine without having to walk through cigarette /cigar smoke and stench, or worry that someone would come sit next to us and light up! We went straight to the poker machines. I just don’t understand any of the other slots. At least with the poker machines I understand why I lost or why I earned more credits! We started with $40 and we walked out with $45.75. 🙂 Works for me! It’s like they paid us $5.75 to stay the night in our coach. 🙂 Weather was perfect-about 70 (low humidity) all evening and throughout the night!

It rained off and on today, and with the rain came the humidity. Barry and I just stayed inside and got needed things done till we got ready to meet Debbie Goodson May for dinner. Deb and I lived in the Kianu House together at Muskingum College back in 1977. We haven’t seen each other since, but reconnected a few years ago via Facebook.

Deb made reservations for us at the French Market Bistro. Dinner was fabulous!! I had grouper for the first time. It is a nice mild, white fish. It was cooked to perfection. Debbie said we’d be seeing a lot of grouper in New Orleans. As a local she gave us tips for our stay in New Orleans. It was great seeing her. Tomorrow morning we leave for New Orleans where we will celebrate Thanksgiving.
