Nobska Lighthouse – Peters Pond

We had a short travel day to Sun Retreats Peters Pond (Previously KOA) in Sandwich, Massachusetts. We had a nice site with easy in and out access. (NOT near the water.) Peters Pond is a 136 acre spring-fed great pond. Weather isn’t going to be the best while we’re here. We will be having some heavy rain and winds as a result of Hurricane Fiona, but it will be nothing like those who received the main hit of Fiona. Therefore, we won’t complain. 🙂

We drove into Falmouth. It was a cute town with a great looking fire station.

NOBSKA Lighthouse
Due to landscaping/sidewalk work, we weren’t able to get beyond the very small parking area at the lighthouse. There was no room for any extra “off-road” parking along the road. You really had to be careful entering and exiting the small parking area.

We discovered Mashpee pickleball. The second morning we went earlier to get in some play before it started to rain. We enjoyed playing here before the rain arrived, and appreciated that the 8 permanent courts were labeled with skill levels. Advance play was at the furthest end to the left. You place your paddles near the court level that best fits your play. Worked great.

A stop at another fish and seafood market!

We used these few days to get groceries, haircuts and do some laundry since the heavy rain and strong winds were imminent. The weather cancelled our chance to bike all over Nantucket, but it did give us time to relax and get caught up on things. September 24th looks like we should be able to get to and from Martha’s Vineyard. 🤞
