New Flooring Installed!

The laminate flooring tiles throughout our home and at least 10 other homes here at Carefree Village Resort were shrinking, and therefore, pulling apart from each other. Our house is less than 2 years old. I believe the rest of the homes are 2-4 years old. Thank goodness for our homeowner meetings! The affected homeowners arranged to meet with the park manager and park owners in January (while we were in Quartzsite). We each filled out a form with attached pictures of the visible gaps at our home. Jim, one of the owners, went to bat for us with Cavco Durango of Phoenix. He did not give up. After multiple meetings, Cavco agreed to replace the flooring. Between Cavco and Jim, we were assured that there would not be any cost to the homeowners.

We were given about six different flooring options/colors. We selected the InHaus waterproof laminate called Nelson that is made in Germany.

We weren’t expecting to get our floors done till sometime after Thanksgiving 2022 once we were back from the East Coast, but about the 21st of April Vicky informed us of an opening that occurred in the schedule. She said Ray (Ray’s Flooring) could get ours done before we left on May 6 – IF that would work for us. Barry and I talked it over. It would be a bit hectic for us getting ready for new flooring while also getting the motorhome ready for our big trip. We decided that since we’d be going through everything at this time, and getting completely organized, that this might actually be the best time to have the floors done. Plus it would be better to do it while we could park Vinny right next to the house. We could continue getting Vinny ready for our long trip while Ray and his crew were inside the house working, and we could sleep there at night. Having the motorhome available for sleeping, enabled us to completely disassemble our bed Monday afternoon, and eliminate pressure on Ray and his crew to finish the master bedroom first.

Ray and his crew showed up at 7:30 am on Tuesday and on Wednesday. We reminded Ray to “follow the line” since we didn’t want any transition strips. They worked till after 5 PM both days.

Ray came back the morning of May 5th to finish up some baseboard/”1/4 round ” in the kitchen. Outstanding work! We LOVE our new floors!

We feel we lucked out with a nice upgrade, and definitely like this flooring more than what we had originally. It feels so much nicer when walking in socks or barefooted. It should also clean better and more easily since the surface is significantly smoother than the original Elements “Rustic Timber” flooring. We are extremely pleased with the results, and very happy we got it done before leaving!
