LR Fan -Bought & Installed

This afternoon Barry and I went to both Home Depot and Lowe’s looking at ceiling fans. We need one for our living room and one for our bedroom. We found one we liked for the living room at Home Depot.

OUR CRITERIA:

  • Remote operated. We did not want a fan with pull chains of any sort. They usually don’t work smoothly over time, and would also be harder to reach with our 9 ft flat ceilings. We want the fan to be part of the ceiling as opposed to an architectural feature. A clean look is imperative for that. The pull chains would cause more clutter to the fan.
  • A soft overhead light. Nothing clunky or heavy looking. While I like clear globes for lights on some of the fans, we did not want lights that might be to glaring between various seating and the TV. A single light would work better for us. DIMMABLE would be a nice plus!
  • 52″ -54 “ Suitable for the size of the room.
  • Color. Matte White, gray or rustic timber blades, with nickel or a rubbed oil bronze housing.

HAMPTON BAY made the perfect fan for us! It is the MENA 54 inch ceiling fan. (Model 1005 919 928) It met all our criteria listed above PLUS it has 3 different types of light! There is a warm light, a soft white, or a daylight. Each is also dimmable! WOW–perfect.

Shortly after returning home, we began the installation. The packaging was very impressive. Every part of the fan was protected within the molded, styrofoam packing. Each blade was separately wrapped, and then all put in a clear bag together. It took both of us to complete the installation, but this was only because it was getting dark, so I needed to hold a spotlight on the housing while Barry assembled it to the ceiling and connected the wires.

We held our breath as we turned the fan on for the first time. WOW–impressive! It really moves the air without blowing you away. AND it is SO QUIET!! NO WOBBLE at all!

The light is truly awesome. We are extremely happy with this fan!

Stay tuned for the reveal of the master bedroom fan. 🙂
