Family Time – Tacoma, WA

MAY 29, 2026
This was our first trip to Washington in our Grech vs our big Newmar Class A. It is enabling us to be closer to friends and family. Previously we had to stay at the Lakewood Elks. This time we were able to stay in Daryl’s backyard instead of being about 20 minutes away. This allowed Barry to really have some quality time with his brother.

This spot came with power, water fill and even a dump for both grey and black tanks! Woohoo–We are happy to come back to this “family Harvest Host”.

I will say this “guy” creeped me out a couple of times. LOL

Karaoke at the Eagles
Daryl went to the Eagles for karaoke night and invited us. Daryl let us use his other car while we were visiting, so we drove over and got a little bite to eat there.

Daryl sings…

When Daryl went to see where he was on the list for his second sign-up, there were seven others yet to see before he’d be up again, so Barry and I called it an evening and headed home.

May 30 – BBQ at Daryl’s
To have some time with more of Barry’s family in the Tacoma area within a tight window of time, we invited them for a BBQ at Daryl/Tee’s place.

When are you going to ‘drop’ something my way, Dad??”

It was great to see Sean Dolan and finally meet Tabitha! They have just moved into a house in Lakewood. (She just moved here from Colorado!)

Daryl manned the BBQ. 🙂 We provided chicken and Tammie and Tim brought some of their wonderful farm-fresh brats. Since they recently decided to no longer raise a pig each year, there will be no more delicious bacon, pork chops or breakfast sausage, etc.  🙁 They plan to only be raising poultry.

The sides provided were great. Thank you everyone for making this happen on such short notice!

Whoops – We forgot to get a group shot of everyone together.

May 31
Barry, and I drove to his sister’s home to visit and see the remodel progress that they are in the midst of, but getting towards the finish line. Looks nice! New flooring (no carpet!), fresh paint and new furniture. The living room is usable while they finish the dining room and Debbie’s craft room.

For dinner, the three of us headed downtown to The Matador.

We arrived in time to be able to order from the happy hour menu. My tacos were great! So were the grilled Brussels sprouts that we ordered to share among the three of us. They were SO good! Debbie got the steak tacos.

After dinner we walked across the street to The Odd OTTER. Daryl and a buddy were participating in open mic night.

What a cute Logo!

Short clip of “Badd Dadd” duo

On our way to the car and driving home I captured a few murals. Love this first one!

We will be headed north to Mountlake Terrace to spend time with Abby, Richard and Maddox.
