De Soto State Park

We reserved two nights at De Soto State Park as early out as we could. We wanted three nights but could only get two consecutive nights in a site where we could fit. Our site was #210.

Approaching the St. Petersburg and De Soto area we had three separate tolls. The first one was $4.50. Second one was $3, and the last one was $2.25. The Bridge was really cool looking.

Our site was great–perfect access to the water to launch our kayaks, but we never did. We were too busy getting our new mail forwarding service set up and switching over to Florida vehicle insurance since we are changing our domicile to Florida. Trying to decide on an available option for plates is quite time consuming. 🙂 Everything must be completed before we leave the state on the 17th!

Some Aerial Perspectives

We did at least get over to the pier for a stunning sunset the first night and to the whitest sandy beach yet for the second night’s sunset. The entire park has amazing bike paths that are very wide to accommodate bike traffic in both directions.

SECOND NIGHT

We walked around the main loop where larger RVs can park. I took photos of several of the sites I like so we’d have them for future reference. We would definitely like to come back when we could stay for a full week or so. Maybe as Florida residents we will have a better chance of getting a longer reservation!

Saw a lot of these cute little guys in the trunk area of the palm trees at our site.
