A Quick Stay in Biloxi, MS

We needed to spend the night in Mississippi to be able add the state to our map. So Barry scheduled us one night at Martin Lake RV in Biloxi on our way through back to the west coast. We drove into town to check out the Biloxi Light House and the beach there. The visitor center across the street offered more than a typical visitor center. It was really nice with a lot of informative displays. It was something to see the high water mark from both Hurricane Katrina (2005), and Hurricane Camille (1969). .

The Biloxi Beach and the wade-ins that took place here in the late 1950’s and early 1960’s played an important part in the Mississippi Freedom Trail.

“Segregation was a legalized bully system.” Gilbert R Mason, MD. This is sad fact in American history back in the 50’s and 60’s, but it really saddens me that we have a bully system today that is perpetuated and even promoted by our current President and White House officials.

McElroy’s Restaurant was recommended by a local. The view of the marina and Deer Island from our table was nice, but we weren’t that impressed with the food options. We ordered the boil-n-peel basket of (24) shrimp appetizer to share, and a side order of green beans for Barry, and a side order of broccoli for me. There wasn’t much else to do unless you like casinos.
