1st Trip to Los Algodones, Mexico

This morning Jimmy (pickleball Jimmy) and his wife Nancy took us with them to Los Algodones. The main reason was to meet their dentist, Jose. They have been going to him for several years and think the world of him. Nancy used to work in a dental office in the states and originally said, “There is no way in hell that she’d ever go to a dentist in Mexico!” But when she met him and asked him a few key questions, looked at his place, she was impressed. The prices then really made the deal. Today was a return visit to complete an implant for Nancy. It was pretty amazing. When Jose didn’t like the color match on the crown, he sent it back to the local lab and then 40 minutes later it was in Nancy’s mouth!

Barry, Jimmy and I strolled around browsing in the various shops and vendors with interest in metal art. We are not ready for anything this year, but enjoyed getting ideas of what is available. Of course they all want to make a deal today for “almost free”.

Goal #2 was to get a couple bottles of alcohol. I wanted to purchase a bottle of almond tequila, and Barry wanted some Patron. We had to wait till 11 AM Arizona time before we could buy any alcohol. We bought it, met up with Nancy and headed towards the border crossing before there was a significant line. The border closes at 2 PM, and there can be really long lines the later you wait to get in line.

Before headed to Los Algodones, Nancy wanted to show us a place where she discovered some burrowing owls. It was over near Sam’s Club. One was out. These owls blend in so well with the ground!

Look at the dirt to the right of the burrowing owl and beyond the burrow. Do you see a bigger owl??? That IS just dirt, right???

Boy, was he watching us as much as we were watching him!

Thank you, Nancy and Jimmy for a great morning!
