Blue Mesa TT- Gunnison, CO

Barry booked us for 12 nights here thinking this would be a nice place to slow down, enjoy some pool time, play pickleball everyday and give me time for some serious blogging. PLUS it wouldn’t cost us anything to stay here due to our Thousand Trails membership. Great in theory, but it didn’t turn out quite like that. We arrived and were assigned a great site! We even scored one of very few shade trees. Great views throughout the park. The staff we encountered were all extremely friendly.

The sites overall are fantastic with full hookups, and fairly level.

The size of these sites blew me away, especially those opposite our side of this road! Here you can see how a large Class A has SO much additional room from the rig to the road! VERY nice!

It’s been amazing to me how quickly thunderstorms develop in all these mountain areas we’ve been exploring. Today we were treated to a beautiful DOUBLE rainbow! We watched dark clouds form several afternoons and even heard thunder and lightning, but we got little rain while we were here. We did get strong winds as these weather fronts blew in and and pushed on through the area.

Love that you can truly distinguish EACH color of the rainbow!! ROYGBIV – Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet

After the storm at 8:25PM. Love the brilliance in the sky.

It even turned into a nice evening for a campfire.

We had a few campfires while here. They were permitted as long as they were within the supplied fire rings.

Unfortunately, there will be no pickleball! Oh- yeah, it is a Thousand Trails. What a joke:

They do have the best mini-golf that we have ever seen at a Thousand Trails. There was no exposed concrete or huge cracks within the “green”. In fact, the green “grass” fit was nice (and complete) on ALL nine holes! We actually had fun playing a full round!

The ninth hole had an elevated tee with a full rock hazard, and a hill up to the hole. I lacked the finesse that was needed. 🙂

The big downfall for us…There was absolutely NO phone signal here and the wifi totally sucked. I did get a lot done on my blogs, but it was only the narrative part. I couldn’t load any pictures or videos. I wrote till I had no more places to write up. We may have to look into StarLink-for places like this and to go to Canada for about 4 months next year.

There was a nice, but small outdoor pool down the road from us. It was a popular place, but the hot tub capacity was only three or four adults. We chose to go to the indoor pool and hot tub further down the hill that attached to the office/activity building. It was nice to be able open up the garage-type doors along one side of the pool to get the nice fresh air. And when the wind and storm roll through in the late afternoon, you can still be in the pool. Plus each time we had it to ourselves.

Stunning colors for our last evening at Blue Mesa.

After about a week, Barry suggested we change things up, so we did.
We left 5 days early. More adventures coming up.
